The Riviera Cinema in Farmington Hills, Michigan opened May 1, 2015, after a renovation that saw the former Dipson West River Centre close in January for the conversion to a luxury movie theater. Dipson Theatres is still involved in the theater as a joint venture with Cloud Nine Theater Partners LLC. The venture also operatesThe Maple Theater in Bloomfield Hills. The opening was announced on the theater's Facebook page Friday.

The theater is positioning itself as a luxury alternative to other theaters in the area, which include the Farmington Civic Theater, the AMC Star Southfield 20 in Southfield, and the Phoenix Theatres Laurel Park Place and AMC Livonia 20 in Livonia.

The amenities listed on the theater's web site include:

• VIP Seating – The newly renovated auditoriums feature lush, reclining seats crafted to give you the maximum comfort during for your movie going experience. You’ll be so comfortable, you’ll forget you’re not at home in your favorite chair!
• 100% Reserved Seating – You’re in control. Purchase tickets and choose the seat you want ahead of time!
• Wall-to-Wall Screens – You’ll be surrounded and immersed in the movie thanks to wall-to-wall, state of the art screens.
• Private VIP Theater Rental – A private theater auditorium is available for rental! With three different styles of luxury, you can entertain up to 50 guests and enjoy the VIP benefits.
• co*cktails, Wine, and Beer Service – We offer specialty co*cktails and drinks for our 21 and up guests. Coming soon after our opening, you’ll be able to place your order at the bar during the previews, and our waitstaff provide seat-side service so you don’t have to miss a minute of the upcoming attractions!
