These lettuce wraps are probably one of the most popular dishes at P.F. Chang’s and it is certainly my favorite. I’ve been wanting to re-create them at home for some time and finally got around to it. I love the flavor of the chicken mixture and eating it with lettuce instead of rice is much healthier! The water chestnuts add a nice crunch. These wraps are just refreshing to me.
I had this dish ready to go in about 20 minutes. P.F. Chang’s serves these as an appetizer, but they are definitely filling enough for lunch or even dinner!
The ingredient list is a bit long, but everything was easy for me to find at my grocery store. I love these lettuce wraps so much, I also know I will use up all of the ingredients so no biggie!
I used ground chicken, but you could also make them with ground turkey or even ground beef if you wanted to!

Copycat P.F. Chang's Chicken Lettuce Wraps - Just like the popular dish from P.F. Chang's, but made right at home!
Ingredients
- 1 tbs. vegetable oil
- 1 lb. ground chicken breast
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 tbs. minced garlic
- 1 tbs. low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tsp. minced fresh ginger
- 1 tbs. rice wine vinegar
- 3 tsp. sriracha (can adjust if you don’t like spicy)
- 1 can (8 ounces) sliced water chestnuts, drained, finely chopped
- 1 bunch green onions sliced
- 2 tsp. sesame oil
- salt to taste
- Iceberg, Bibb or butter lettuce leaves, rinsed and drained
- cilantro (for garnish, optional)
- soy sauce, hoisin, spicy mustard sauce (for dipping, if desired)
Instructions
- Heat the vegetable oil in a saute pan over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook for about 5 minutes, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks.
- Pour in the onion, garlic, ginger, vinegar, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, and the sriracha. Toss the mixture to coat all of the chicken. Continue cooking until the chicken is thoroughly cooked (about 1-2 minutes).
- Stir in the water chestnuts and the green onions. Pour in the sesame oil, and add salt to taste.
- Transfer the chicken to a bowl or a large plate. Scoop the chicken mixture onto the lettuce leaves. Garnish with cilantro if desired and serve!

Oh, how I love these!!! I can enjoy lettuce wraps and not feel guilty one bit. :) I have not watched the Oscars in years, but for some reason I was drawn to them last night. I agree with all your comments…. Jennifer Lawrence was amazing for the biggest fear most women have.. falling down. I have to give Hugh Jackmen a shout out too because he was such a gentleman trying to help her… but she’s a strong woman and got up on her own. Well done. :)

I didn’t watch the Oscars, they are on way past my bedtime, but I’ll checkout what they wore on Yahoo news. Your lettuce wraps have me all excited! I am soooooooooo making these! I love PF Changs but the calories kill me, but yours are nice and healthy!! LOVE IT!!!

You are too funny! I wasn’t thrilled about Anne Hathaway’s dress either. And Jennifer Lawrence is just too cute! Love her personality. And how in the world did I miss Daniel Day Lewis’ lipstick stain?!!!
Anyway, I need these lettuce wraps in my life! Not sure if I’ve had the PF Chang’s version but I’m sure this is 100000x better!

I haven’t watched the Oscar yet… I’m going to check the recording after writing this. I know the result but still look forward to seeing the fabulous dresses and celebrities! :D I haven’t gone to PF Changs for a long time. I always love lettuce wraps. Less carb is what I need right now as I’ve been craving and eating pasta and rice… This looks so good!

I love these wraps. So delicious and super easy to make. I must try them.
I did not watch the Oscars. I think there’s just too many award shows for Hollywood. Soon enough they’ll be giving awards for who can the best award speech or best awards dress. It drives me bonkers. No one needs that many pats on the back when they make millions per film already.
I would have loved to see Daniel Day Lewis being a cutie patootie though. Loved him in Last of the Mohicans. I can recite it word for word on a dime. It’s a little sad actually.

If you ask me, “enough” and “Oscar talk” don’t even belong in the same sentence. I could go on for days. I pretty much agree with every statement you made. I also felt like the best picture speech was reallllll awkward. We get it. Ben Affleck should have at least been nominated, but get on with the speech already! What do you mean by “ground chicken breast”? Isn’t it more chopped? I think of ground as in ground beef etc.

Hi Chris, they actually do make ground chicken that looks the same as ground beef. I can usually find it near the poultry in my grocery store. It is typically right next to the ground turkey.

I would like to make this dish but serve it as an appetizer. Any ideas on something to put the chicken on other than lettuce? I need something a bit more “sturdy”. I will be serving these outdoors. Thanks!-

If you use iceberg lettuce, it should be okay since the lettuce is sturdier. You can also leave the lettuce out and let people scoop their own so the lettuce doesn’t get soggy. You could serve it on little flatbreads, but I prefer the lettuce personally.
